Help Center › Media Lists: Mailboxes & Campaigns
How do I filter journalists and build a list?
Do not start from the full database. Filter first, so you pitch the twenty right people instead of blasting two thousand wrong ones, then save only the contacts that fit.
- Open Media Lists, then Search. Use the Journalists tab for journalists and the Podcasts tab for podcast hosts.
- Use the left filter panel: Keyword for a name, outlet or bio word; Job title for Editor or Reporter; Outlet for one publication; Location; Beat or topic; Country; and Language.
- Tick Has public email if you only want contacts you can actually email, and Has social profile if you want contacts with a public social profile.
- Click Apply filters, then Clear all if you want to start again. The results count at the top tells you how many contacts match.
- Tick the checkboxes next to the contacts you want, then use Save selected: pick an existing list, or type a new list name. Lists hold up to 2,500 contacts, duplicates are removed, and contacts without an email are flagged so you know they cannot be emailed.
- You can also start from Outlets: it shows each outlet with its real contact count, and View contacts opens Search already filtered to that outlet.
Note: Filtering and saving need an active Media List plan. Without a plan you see only the first page, with masked contacts — clicking Apply filters, a page number after 1, a masked email, a social button or Save opens a popup asking you to buy a plan first. On a profile, social buttons show as available but locked until you buy.
